Blood Chamber for Transfusion Set
A blood chamber is a crucial safety component of a blood transfusion set. Its primary function is to allow medical workers to clearly observe blood flow rate and filter blood clots. A blood transfusion drip chamber includes a spike (with or without air-vent), a spike protector, a drip part, a blood filter, and a chamber.
The spike is made of ABS and is used to puncture the blood bag to allow blood to flow. The spike protector protects the spike from contamination before use. The drip rate is generally 20 drops/ml. The blood filter is the most significant difference between a blood transfusion set drip chamber and an infusion set drip chamber. To prevent large blood clots and allow blood cells to pass through smoothly, its pore size is generally 170 to 200μm. The chamber is made of PVC or DEHP-FREE PVC.
