Rubber piston is an essential part for hypodermic syringe (also called three-part syringe). In a syringe, the rubber piston primarily serves to provide sealing and sliding properties. A three-part syringe typically consists of a rubber piston, a barrel, and a plunger. Good sliding performance depends on the fit of these three parts, while good sealing performance requires the high elasticity of the rubber piston, but also depends on the compatibility of the rubber piston, barrel, and plunger. Rubber pistons are made of materials such as latex, isoprene rubber, and silicone rubber. Isoprene rubber is the most commonly used material for hypodermic syringes.
